It is the city of lights, luxury, and life. It is a place that offers around-the-clock fun, free-flowing drinks, glamorous nightlife, and star-studded casinos. Today, it matches Beverly Hills and South Beach when it comes to opulent spas, five-star restaurants, and shopping to fit any budget and style. The city is Las Vegas, a place to indulge, celebrate, and then rejuvenate. What better destination for a girlfriend getaway?

At the heart of the city is the sparkling Strip, extending from Mandalay Bay to the Stratosphere, the tallest building west of the Mississippi. You and your girlfriends could easily spend the entire trip casino hopping. Instead, amble up and down the Strip, soaking in all of the glitz, glamour, and razzle-dazzle.

Be sure to walk across the miniaturized version of the Brooklyn Bridge at New York-New York, ride a Gondola at the Venetian, watch the Sirens of TI outside of Treasure Island, catch the Bellagio’s water fountains, which “perform” to different musical numbers, and stroll through the lustrous Mirage Hotel.

“Las Vegas has many exciting activities other than the casinos, including incredible shows and some of the best shopping and restaurants available anywhere in the world,” say HomeAway Las Vegas homeowners, Phil and Cindy Young. Indeed, over the last decade, a herd of celebrity chefs have stampeded the place, raising the bar on fine dining in Sin City.

As for shopping, well… there is no end to the possibilities in Las Vegas. You and your girlfriends will have fun exploring places like Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian, with a massive painted fresco overhead, and a gondola-traversed canal. Or consider the Desert Passage at the Aladdin, with more than 140 stores in an open-air Mediterranean market ambience. The Las Vegas Strip also boasts a two million square foot Fashion Show Mall, attracting more than ten million visitors annually. Along with its department stores, the mall houses more than 200 boutique and chain shops.

Celebrate your girlfriend reunion by splurging on a meal at any one of these glamorous, celebrity-studded eateries: Wolfgang Puck’s Spago at Caesar’s, Daniel Boulud’s Brasserie in the Wynn Las Vegas, Jean Georges Vongerichten’s Prime in the Bellagio, Alain Ducasse’s Mix atop the Hotel at Mandalay Bay, Thomas Keller’s Bouchon at the Veneitian, or Bradley Ogden’s at Caesar’s Palace.

After dinner, contemplate catching a show. Best selling performances such as Mamma Mia!, Cirque du Soleil, Blue Man Group,  Celine Dion, or the Chippendales are all bound to entertain. For a sweeping view of the strip, head to Mix, the restaurant and bar on top of the Hotel at Mandalay Bay, or enjoy a cocktail at the Stratosphere. And because you can’t wind down your evening without a little dancing, stop by the House of Blues or Studio 54 at MGM Grand for a spin on the dance floor and a nightcap.

“We made memories with a full day of shopping, gaming, and fine dining,” says HomeAway homeowner, Lisa Olsen, about her girls’ trip to Vegas. “We even had a moment in the spotlight as we performed ‘We Are Family’ at a karaoke stage.”

Ultimately, what are girls’ trips for if not to kick back, relax around a pool, talk, and laugh?  Certainly, you can do that at any one of Vegas’ high-end spas such as the Canyon Ranch Spa at the Venetian, the Wynn Spa, or the Ritz Carlton Spa. However, if you and your girlfriends set up reunion headquarters in a private home, it is easy to enjoy the best of both worlds. As HomeAway Las Vegas homeowner, Jeffery Hill says, “What a great combination: the action of the strip and a quiet retreat with everything you may desire.”

HomeAway Las Vegas homeowners, the Young’s, would agree. “What makes staying in a home so attractive,” they say, "is the unusual degree of seclusion and the idyllic sense of relaxation it affords – all of which can be a delightful escape from the hectic activities of the Strip.”

No matter where you and your girlfriends choose to stay, Las Vegas is a place to revel, relax, and replenish. So what are you waiting for, ladies? Girlfriend getaways in 2007…book ‘em!
